Welcome to my new website! I hope you’re enjoying your stay so far!
My husband and I have lived in small-town Iowa for many years now, but finally, the time has come for us to trade in our town home for a cozy farmhouse. We’re enjoying our stay, although the distant train whistles and occasional traffic is a reminder of what it was like to live in town. Hopefully, we won’t long to go back to the city.
Although we have our new farmhouse, the longing for town living is being fed every day. We plan on renovating our loving farmhouse but while we do, we’ve been living in an apartment; which has presented their own pros and cons. It can be tough living in an apartment, but it makes every trip to the farmhouse all the better. Thankfully, though, living on a farm and in an apartment offers the best of both world, unless you need a hairband.
That’s right, even though it’s only five miles from a country grocery and convenience store, where you can get food and drinks, I still can’t get myself a hair tie! Either way, hopefully, the more I visit these small stores the better I can get to know my neighbors, as well as their names, as poor with names that I am. But if there is one thing I have learned, it’s that country goodness is not extinct.
There’s still a lot to learn and there’s a lot to get transitioned to. Anything from checking the gas tank before every trip back to the apartment, to planning ahead for sure about things like dog food and groceries. Especially since it’s 25-30 miles from any major chain store. We’re total fish out of water but hopefully, we can get countrified in no time! So come join us in our experiences with whatever country life decides to throw at us!
